       China Daily, Fuzhou, January 18 (Reuters) On the morning of January 18, reporters learned from the press briefing of the Science and Technology Department of Fujian Province that Fujian's scientific research achievement "cold chain logistics UV photocatalysis compound killing machine" began to be used in the Beijing Winter Olympics, which is the only large-scale surface disinfection and sterilization equipment approved for use in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

       Winter is the key season for the spread of the epidemic. During the Winter Olympic Games, foreign competitors and team members were heavily imported, and there was a risk of COVID-19 transmission in their luggage, articles and food materials. The prevention and control of the epidemic was particularly important. The "cold chain logistics UV photocatalysis compound sterilizer" jointly developed by Fuzhou University and Fuxia Technology, reviewed by the Technical Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Winter Olympics, is used in the main venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics as an epidemic prevention research product. This is the only large-scale surface disinfection and sterilization equipment used for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, which also indicates that this UV photocatalytic sterilizer made in Fujian is fully capable of safeguarding major international sports events.

       It is understood that the installation and commissioning of 9 disinfection machines have been completed in the three competition areas of the Winter Olympics. Among them, there are 4 units in Beijing Winter Olympics Village, 1 unit in Beijing Capital Gymnasium, 3 units in Zhangjiakou Winter Olympics Village, and 1 unit in Yanqing Winter Olympics Village. These equipment will carry out security checks and disinfection and sterilization on luggage, sports equipment, supporting tools, food and other materials entering the Olympic Village and the Capital Gymnasium, so as to firmly hold the first barrier of epidemic prevention and control for the Winter Olympic Games.

       At present, 20 sets of killing machines have been promoted and applied in cold chain supervision centralized warehouses in Fuzhou, Ningde and Zhangzhou, as well as in important scenes such as Fuzhou Post, Fuzhou University, Engineering College, Provincial Hospital, Union Hospital and fruit wholesale market in Fujian Province. Since the on-site verification in Fuzhou cold chain supervision centralized warehouse began in mid July 2021, 5500 cases of imported cold chain food were sampled, 55 positive samples were found, and all nucleic acid tests turned negative after being disinfection and sterilization.
