Recently, the cold chain logistics UV photocatalysis compound disinfection machine, jointly developed by the team of academician Fu Xianzhi of Fuzhou University and the team of Dr. Chen Jian of Fuxia Technology, entered the three competition areas of the Winter Olympic Games as a key scientific research product for epidemic prevention. This is the first photocatalysis disinfection and sterilization cold chain virus equipment in China, and the only large-scale surface disinfection and sterilization equipment approved for use in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Winter is the key season for the spread of the epidemic. During the Winter Olympic Games, foreign competitors and team members were heavily imported, and there was a risk of COVID-19 transmission in their luggage, articles and food materials. The prevention and control of the epidemic was particularly important. The "cold chain logistics UV photocatalysis compound sterilizer" provided by Fujian Province has been reviewed by the Technical Department of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee and used as a product for epidemic prevention research in the main venues of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. This also indicates that the UV photocatalytic sterilizer produced in Fujian has been fully capable of safeguarding major international sports events.
According to Dr. Chen Jian, 9 killing machines have been installed in the Beijing Winter Olympic Village, Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Village, Yanqing Winter Olympic Village and the Capital Stadium. "These equipment will carry out security checks and disinfection and sterilization on luggage, sports equipment, instruments, supporting tools, food and other materials entering the Olympic village and stadium, so as to firmly hold the first barrier of epidemic prevention and control for the Winter Olympic Games," he said.
In order to effectively solve the pain points and difficulties of cold chain logistics disinfection and sterilization that are highly concerned at home and abroad, Fujian Province has mobilized research forces from relevant universities and enterprises to tackle key problems in scientific research, and developed the first set of UV photocatalytic killing machine in China in half a year. At present, 20 units have been promoted and applied in cold chain supervision centralized warehouses in Fuzhou, Ningde, Zhangzhou, as well as in Fuzhou Post, Fuzhou University, Engineering College, Provincial Hospital, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, fruit wholesale markets and other places within the province. Since the on-site verification in Fuzhou cold chain supervision centralized warehouse began in mid July 2021, 5500 cases of imported cold chain food were sampled, 55 positive samples were found, and all nucleic acid tests turned negative after being disinfection and sterilization.
It is reported that the research team of academician Fu Xianzhi of Fuzhou University and the team of Dr. Chen Jian of Fuxia Science and Technology have broken through mechanism research, overcome technical problems such as prototype design, P3 experiment evaluation, third-party detection, and successfully developed the first scientific research product using UV photocatalysis for COVID-19 disinfection and sterilization in just half a year, adding a scientific and technological "weapon" for epidemic prevention and control in China.
